Should Martin’s character resonate in the pilot, then it’s possible that this could become a recurring role.

Pamela Sue Martin, television’s original Nancy Drew, appears on The CW’s rebooted series in the role of Harriet Grosset, who’s described as “a small-town psychic who offers her talents to help Nancy investigate a murder - and ends up delivering an otherworldly clue that neither of them bargained for.” As the report observes, the name, Harriet Grosset, seems to be a kind of homage to the franchise’s literary history, referencing key contributing author Harriet Adams and first book series publishers Grosset & Dunlap. Yet, it maintains The CW’s stratagem of casting ‘90s era teen idols for parent roles, best exemplified by Riverdale’s parent cast of Molly Ringwald, Skeet Ulrich and the late Luke Perry. The recasting with Wolf was the result of an amicable split between Prinze and the producers, who reportedly wanted to head in a different direction with the character. And it’s true: From the very first release Nancy Drew: Secrets Can Kill, a point-and-click adventure game the Nancy Drew adventures weren’t girly, although they clearly were. His relationship with Nancy is thrown into disarray when the sleuth’s murder investigation reveals secrets from his past.” The character is described as “an attorney who has become estranged from his daughter after the death of his wife. Scott Wolf plays the role of Nancy’s father, Carson Drew, replacing the previously-cast Freddie Prinze Jr., reports THR. It’s quite a coup for her burgeoning career, since her only two existing credits consist of TV guest roles, respectively in episodes of Law & Order: SVU and Gone. Nancy’s reawakening brings her into conflict with her widowed father, Carson Drew (Scott Wolf), who is dating Detective Karen Hart (Alvina August). The five of them must team up to clear their own names – encountering emotional entanglements and even more mysteries along the way. But when a socialite is murdered, Nancy finds herself a prime suspect in the crime, along with a group of other teens present at the scene: Nancy’s nemesis from high school, George Fan (Leah Lewis) a rich girl with a mysterious past, Bess Marvin (Maddison Jaizani) Nancy’s secret boyfriend, Ned “Nick” Nickerson (Tunji Kasim) and amiable burnout Ace (Alex Saxon). Set in Scotland, you’ll dodge bullets, use cool spy tech, and zip-line between buildings as you race the clock to stop a terrorist attack! Also you’ll make cookies.“Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann) is a brilliant teenage detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine – until her mother’s untimely death derails Nancy’s college plans.ĭevastated by her mother’s passing, Nancy swears off crime-solving while crossing off the days until she can re-apply to college. Nancy questions everything she thought she knew about her dead mother in The Silent Spy, which is easily the most exciting game of the series. This game scared the pants off at least one grown man (link contains spoilers!), so it’s not just my wimpy self saying that. The place is haunted by past tragedy and a frankly terrifying spirit. In Shadow at the Water’s Edge, you stay at a melancholy, unsettling Japanese inn. What’s so fantastical about that? The castle is plagued by a banshee, and to learn her secrets, you must pick your way through a gloomy bog to an old crone’s hut! As for the sci-fi part, well, that would be telling. The Haunting of Castle Malloyfinds Nancy in an old Irish castle, searching for a missing bridegroom. There’s also a cute romantic subplot between two of the side characters, but I won’t spoil it for you. While visiting an Arizona ranch, Nancy uncovers the ill-fated Wild West romance between an outlaw and a sheriff’s daughter…and the lost treasure that the outlaw had intended for his beloved. At least the sets are nice! Romanceįor you love lovers out there, I recommend The Secret of Shadow Ranch, based on the Nancy Drew book of the same name. Or, if you prefer Greek mythology, there’s Labyrinth of Lies, which is set in a Greek museum with a major forgery problem. Meanwhile, all of your suspects are trying to put on a play based on the myth of Persephone and Hades. In order to solve this case, you’ll have to brush up on your Egyptian mythology and use that knowledge to evade the tomb’s many deadly traps.
Tomb of the Lost Queen has Nancy join an accident-prone archaeological team that may or may not have discovered an Egyptian queen’s tomb.
This is a twofer, because both of these games rely heavily on mythology to craft the story, the puzzles, and the crime.
